In a world defined by rapid change and a constant stream of new information, the landscape of faith is shifting. For many, the challenge lies in reconciling timeless biblical truths with the complexities of modern culture. It’s a task that requires both a deep understanding of historical roots and a compassionate, contemporary approach.
This is the intersection where Master Minded Ministries — started by Pastor Dave McGarrah and his wife, Jerri McGarrah — found purpose. Their work serves as a powerful model for “navigating faith in a changing world” by bridging the gap between Christianity’s rich Jewish heritage and the pressing issues of today.
For decades, Dave McGarrah has been an active pastor and teacher, currently serving as a pastor at Deer Flat Church in Caldwell, Idaho. Alongside his wife, Jerri, he established Master Minded Ministries as a nonprofit organization with a core mission: to help the Christian community understand its Jewish roots and to foster a love and support for Israel and the Jewish people. This mission is particularly relevant in a time when historical facts can be distorted and contemporary conflicts can obscure a biblical perspective. The McGarrahs believe that a deeper appreciation for the covenant God made with Israel is essential for Christians to fully grasp their own faith.
Engaging Across Divides
A significant part of Master Minded Ministries’ work is the weekly radio program “The Teacher and the Preacher,” which features a unique and powerful dialogue between Pastor Dave McGarrah and an Orthodox Jew, Aaron Lipkin. This ongoing conversation is a living embodiment of the ministry’s bridge-building philosophy. The show, which airs on 58 stations across the United States, celebrates commonalities while also openly discussing differences, offering listeners a rare and insightful look into both faith traditions. This kind of courageous and respectful dialogue is a crucial example of how to engage with “the other” in a society that often prefers to shout across divides.

Beyond the airwaves, the McGarrahs have a passion for taking people directly to the source of their faith. Dave has led nearly 40 trips to Israel, introducing hundreds to the Holy Land. These “Biblical Journey Tours” are not simply vacations; they are immersive experiences designed to transform lives by connecting the Scriptures to the physical land where they unfolded.
As Dave and Jerri have stated, they’ve been “smitten” by Israel and believe the journey has been transformative for them and for the participants. In an increasingly digital and detached world, these experiences ground believers in a tangible history, reminding them that their faith is not an abstract concept but a living narrative.
The work aligns with the contemporary focus of Light + Life Magazine. Master Minded Ministries’ commitment to educating Christians about their Jewish roots directly addresses the “intersection of faith and culture” by examining the historical and theological foundations of Christian belief. By showing how the past informs the present, they equip believers to confront contemporary issues — from geopolitical conflicts to societal polarization — with a deeper, more rooted understanding.
Transformed Thinking
Master Minded Ministries also emphasize the importance of a “renewed mind,” a concept that resonates with the challenges of navigating a constantly changing world. While not directly stated as a part of their mission, the work encourages a thoughtful, biblical approach to life.
The dialogue with a Jewish counterpart on “The Teacher and the Preacher” and the educational tours to Israel promote a way of thinking that is not conformed to the world’s patterns, but is instead transformed by a deeper understanding of God’s Word and His covenant with His people. This intentional process of learning and seeking truth is a powerful countercultural act in an era of quick takes and superficial engagement.

Love and Faith in Action
Master Minded Ministries’ commitment to building bridges extends beyond the Christian-Jewish dialogue. They have also supported educational and outreach initiatives, including taking students on biblical study tours and donating to local synagogues. This hands-on, community-focused approach demonstrates that “love and support” for the Jewish people is not just a theological idea but a practical and actionable expression of faith.
In a world where faith can feel increasingly isolated or irrelevant, Pastor Dave and Jerri McGarrah’s ministry offers a compelling and timely reminder of the deep historical roots of Christianity. Their work — which blends biblical scholarship, cross-cultural dialogue, and hands-on experiences — provides a powerful model for how to navigate faith with both grace and conviction. Through Master Minded Ministries, they are helping to equip a new generation of believers to stand firm in their convictions, engage the world with love, and find a vibrant faith at the dynamic intersection of history and culture.
